Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari have extended their warm congratulations to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on assuming office as the 23rd President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
President Mirza Fakhrul took his oath of office at Bangabhaban on Friday evening.
Indian president’s message
In a congratulatory message issued shortly after the oath-taking ceremony on Friday evening, Indian President Droupadi Murmu conveyed her best wishes to her Bangladeshi counterpart. She expressed her desire to work closely with him to further strengthen the partnership between the two neighbouring countries.
Murmu extended her warmest wishes for the President’s continued good health and happiness, the successful discharge of his responsibilities, and the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Bangladesh.
“I am confident that your long experience of public life and political leadership heralds a successful tenure in service of the people of Bangladesh,” she stated.
The Indian President highlighted that India and Bangladesh share a unique relationship rooted in a shared history of sacrifices, close cultural ties, and warm bonds of friendship. She also noted that in recent times, bilateral ties have steadily expanded across several key areas, including energy, technology, connectivity, youth affairs, health, and education.
Pakistan president’s greetings
Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari also congratulated President Mirza Fakhrul on his election. He expressed his confidence that, under his leadership, Bangladesh would continue to make progress and advance the well-being of its people.
President Zardari noted that Pakistan and Bangladesh enjoy close bonds rooted in their shared history, faith, and cultural ties. Welcoming the positive momentum in bilateral relations, he expressed hope that cooperation between the two nations would continue to grow in areas of mutual interest.
Zardari stated that he looks forward to working with President Mirza Fakhrul to strengthen Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and promote greater exchanges and cooperation between the two peoples.
Furthermore, the Pakistani President invited the Bangladeshi President to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time, expressing confidence that such a visit would provide an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral ties and deepen cooperation.
Zardari conveyed his best wishes to President Mirza Fakhrul for the successful discharge of his responsibilities, and for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the Bangladeshi people.
