After years of accompanying her husband, actor and director Shamim Zaman, to television sets, Amina Labib has stepped in front of the camera for the first time.
She makes her acting debut in the television serial Ek Patiler Songsar, directed by Shamim Zaman.
Speaking about her first acting experience, Amina said she was encouraged to take on the role by veteran actor Mosharraf Karim and his wife, Robena Reza Jui.
“I agreed to act in the serial mainly because of the encouragement I received from Mosharraf Karim Bhai and Jui Bhabi. Working alongside such experienced artistes has been a wonderful opportunity for me. As a newcomer, they supported me throughout the process, which gave me the confidence to perform,” she said.
Amina admitted that acting proved far more demanding than she had imagined after years of watching productions from behind the scenes.
“Whenever I visited shooting sets, acting looked quite easy. But once I started working myself, I realised how challenging it really is. Shoots often begin early in the morning and continue until late at night. A single scene sometimes requires multiple takes to get it right. Despite the hard work, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience,” she added.
She also revealed that she felt nervous on the first day of filming but quickly became comfortable thanks to the support of the director, her co-stars and the production team.
“I was a little nervous on the first day, but the warmth and cooperation of everyone on set helped me overcome that very quickly. It allowed me to complete my first project with confidence,” she said.
Ek Patiler Songsar is a family drama directed by Shamim Zaman.
With the serial, Amina Labib begins a new chapter in her career and says she is optimistic that audiences will appreciate both the drama and her performance.
