Bangladesh’s run of simply taking part at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow continued as Najimul Hossain Rony was knocked out in the heats of the men’s 400m hurdles.
On Thursday, Rony finished seventh among eight runners in his heat with a time of 52.90 seconds. Overall, he placed 18th out of 22 competitors.
Only the top eight athletes advanced to the medal round. The last athlete to qualify was Yashas Palaksha of India, who clocked 49.51 seconds.
Bangladesh have failed to produce any surprise results in the athletics events in Glasgow.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s fastest man Imranur Rahman and fastest woman Shirin Akter both competed in the 100m sprint but were eliminated in the heats.
Lusad Islam also exited in the heats of the 400m event.
