ActionAid International Bangladesh Society (AAIBS) elected new members to its Executive Board and General Assembly at its 14th Annual General Meeting held in Dhaka on Wednesday, with participants joining in a hybrid format from different parts of Bangladesh and abroad.
Suraya Akter, Country Manager of suPPPort, was elected to the Executive Board, while Dr Samiya Selim, Professor at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), was elected to the General Assembly. Members also approved the Annual Audit Report 2025 during the meeting, ActionAid Bangladesh said in a press release.
The AGM brought together members of the Executive Board and General Assembly to review the organisation’s activities and achievements over the past year and discuss future programmes and governance priorities.
Ibrahim Khalil Al-Zayad, Chairperson of ActionAid International Bangladesh Society, welcomed the newly elected members and said they would play an important role in the organisation.
He expressed confidence that their expertise and commitment would help advance ActionAid’s mission, vision and values while strengthening governance within the organisation.
Farah Kabir, Country Director of ActionAid Bangladesh and Ex-Officio Secretary of AAIBS, thanked Executive Board and General Assembly members for their contributions to improving internal governance and accountability.
She said AAIBS had succeeded in building an inclusive and democratic governance model by bringing together grassroots representatives, young people and experienced professionals.
The meeting was also attended by Belinda Morrissey, Executive Board Member of AAIBS and Chair of ActionAid Australia, as a special guest.
The organisation discussed upcoming activities and governance priorities alongside its review of achievements during the past year, according to the press release.
