Retired IGP and former government secretary Md Abdul Kayum has been elected unopposed as president of the Bangladesh Retired Police Officers Welfare Association for the 2026-2028 term, while retired Superintendent of Police Mia Lutfar Rahman Chowdhury has been elected unopposed as secretary general.
The Election Commission announced the results on Sunday, following a unanimous decision taken at a meeting on 14 May.
Several other positions also had no opposing candidates. The vice-presidents elected unopposed are retired Additional IGP Md Abdul Mannan, retired Additional IGP Md Abdur Rahman Khan, and retired Additional IGP Md Mokhlesur Rahman.
Md Abdul Kuddus Khan was elected treasurer unopposed. The joint secretaries are Md Sirajul Islam and Md Baktiar Hossain Bhuiya PPM. Kazi Shahabuddin Ahmad was elected office secretary, Nasir Uddin Khan became library and dormitory secretary, and Md Zahid Alam Biswas was elected assistant treasurer.
However, as 14 candidates are contesting for 11 executive member positions, voting will be held on June 20, 2026, according to the schedule announced by the Election Commission. The vote will take place centrally in Dhaka and at the association’s 19 branches across the country.
