Aamir Khan Productions has unveiled a quirky new film, ‘Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos’, marking the directorial debut of comedian-turned-filmmaker Vir Das. The film stars Vir Das and Mona Singh, but it was a surprise cameo from Imran Khan that grabbed headlines, marking his first onscreen appearance in 10 years.
The announcement video shows Aamir Khan, known for Laal Singh Chaddha, critiquing Vir Das’s film for lacking the promised action, romance and dance sequences. However, the audience’s enthusiastic response in the video flips the narrative, celebrating the film’s charm. The trailer also introduces Imran Khan in a special appearance, alongside Vir Das and Mona Singh. Happy Patel: Khatranakh Jasoos is set for release on January 16, 2026.
Imran Khan, who rose to fame with romantic comedies such as ‘I Hate Luv Storys’, ‘Break Ke Baad’ and ‘Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na’, stepped away from acting following the 2015 flop ‘Katti Batti’ and a brief stint directing the short film ‘Mission Mars: Keep Walking India’. His comeback comes via a Netflix rom-com with Bhumi Pednekar, directed by Break Ke Baad filmmaker Danish Aslam.
India media outlets report that Khan described his return as a “natural progression,” shaped by years of personal growth, including navigating a divorce. He noted that the film mirrors the life experiences he and Aslam have accumulated over the past 15 years.
Vir Das, whose previous credits include ‘Go Goa Gone’, ‘Delhi Belly’ and ‘Badmaash Company’, previously collaborated with Aamir Khan Productions on Delhi Belly, which also featured Imran Khan.
