Amad Diallo’s thunderous 81st-minute volley earned Manchester United a crucial point in a dramatic Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
United had appeared on course for a fourth consecutive win and a move into second place after Casemiro gave them the lead at half-time with a header from a corner that Forest believed should not have stood.
However, the game swung decisively in just two second-half minutes. Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White outmuscled Amad to meet Ryan Yates’ deep cross from the right, drawing the hosts level. Moments later, Nicolo Savona capitalised on Igor Jesus’ header that ricocheted into the six-yard box, slotting home to put Forest ahead.
United, however, displayed resilience. Bruno Fernandes struck the base of the post before Amad seized on a looping clearance just outside the area, volleying first-time past Matz Sels to secure a 2-2 draw. Deep into stoppage time, Amad came close to snatching all three points, only for his effort to be cleared off the line by Murillo.
Looking ahead, Nottingham Forest will face Sturm Graz in the Europa League on 7 November at 17:45 GMT, before hosting Leeds United in the Premier League on 9 November at 14:00. United travel to Tottenham in the league on 8 November at 12:30 GMT.
