Bangladesh lost the T20 series against West Indies after defeats in the first two matches. Despite the results, the Tiger bowlers impressed with their performance in both games.
Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim praised the bowlers after the match on Wednesday. He admitted that the batters failed to support them.
“There were some matches we should have won but couldn’t,” Tamim said at the press conference. “The batters failed here, but the bowlers did really well and made strong comebacks. I don’t think we failed too badly. We won our last four series. We just missed out here. There are positives and negatives, and we must work on the negatives. We need to bounce back quickly because big matches are coming, including the World Cup.”
Tamim also highlighted the consistency of the bowling unit. “Our bowlers are doing well on any wicket,” he said. “Now the responsibility is on the batters. The bowlers are leading the team, and we must do the same. If we can cut down our mistakes, chasing runs will become easier.”
West Indies opener Alick Athanaze also spoke after the match. He said the team started well and built a solid partnership but fell short with the bat.
“We had a good start and a strong foundation,” Athanaze said. “Maybe we were 20 to 50 runs short because the pitch looked like a 200-run wicket. Our bowlers showed their class once again, and that helped us win.”
Talking about their bowling plan, Athanaze added, “We tried to keep things simple and stick to our plan. We went over by over, aiming to keep them under seven runs each over. That’s how we managed to finish strong.”
