foodpanda, the country’s leading online food and grocery delivery platform, has announced free accidental insurance coverage for 1,000 of its top-performing riders in partnership with Green Delta Insurance PLC.
The initiative, launched as part of foodpanda’s commitment to rider welfare, aims to provide financial protection to those who face accidents while on duty. The Panda Riders Personal Accidental Insurance Plan will offer monetary support in cases of death or disability resulting from road accidents.
According to the company, the 1,000 riders were selected for their consistent dedication, especially during the challenging rainy season when delivery conditions are most difficult. Under the plan, riders or their families will receive up to Tk 1 lakh for injuries resulting in death or permanent total disability and Tk 50,000 for partial disabilities.
“foodpanda riders are one of the most important parts of the foodpanda ecosystem,” said Head of Logistics foodpanda Bangladesh Mukitur Khan. “With this insurance plan, we aim to prioritise their well-being and safety by supporting their efforts and providing them with financial security,” he added.
foodpanda, a subsidiary of global delivery giant Delivery Hero, operates in 10 Asian markets including Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Pakistan, Taiwan, Philippines, Bangladesh, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. The platform has expanded beyond food delivery to quick-commerce (q-commerce), offering a wide range of on-demand services through its network of retail partners and pandamart cloud stores.
