468 more dengue cases reported in 24hrs

A total of 468 new dengue infections were recorded across the country in the 24 hours till Friday morning, raising this year’s overall caseload to 63,638, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the newly identified cases, 73 were reported in Barishal (out of CC), 87 in Chattogram (out of CC), 104 in Dhaka Division (out of CC), 111 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 47 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 13 in Khulna (out of CC), and 33 in Mymensingh (out of CC).

The death toll remained unchanged at 259, as no new fatalities were reported during the same period, the DGHS confirmed. At present, 2,642 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country.

Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives, while 101,214 cases and 100,040 recoveries were recorded, according to DGHS data.
