A concert by popular musician James in Meherpur was cancelled last week due to a lack of permission from the local administration. However, it has now been confirmed that he will perform at a new concert in Dhaka, where he will be joined by Pakistani musician Ali Azmat from the legendary band ‘Junoon’.

The concert will take place at the United Convention Centre in Kurmitola, Dhaka, on November 14, organised by Asen Baz.

Junoon, Pakistan’s pioneering Sufi rock band, released its debut album ‘Junoon’ in 1991 and has since produced nine albums, including ‘Talash’, ‘Inqilab’ and ‘Azadi’.

Ali Azmat has been with the band since its inception and has also achieved success as a solo artist, including in Bollywood.

This will mark Ali Azmat’s third visit to Bangladesh, though it will be his first solo appearance. He last performed in the country at the Dhaka International Folk Fest in 2019.

Earlier this year, Azmat was scheduled to perform at a concert titled ‘Ali Azmat (The Voice of Junoon) Live in Dhaka’, also organised by Asen Baz, on May 2.

However, the event was eventually cancelled. Nearly five months later, the celebrated vocalist is set to return to Dhaka to share the stage with James.

The concert is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm on November 14.
