Three passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed after being hit by a dump truck in Kaliganj, Gazipur. Two others were seriously injured in the incident.
The accident occurred around 8:30am on Friday in the Deopara Chattar area on the Tongi-Ghorashal bypass road.
Among the deceased are Aliullah and a four-year-old child named Tamim. The identity of the third victim has not yet been confirmed.
The injured have been identified as Hafizur (40) from Sirajganj and his wife Salma Begum (35). The deceased child, Tamim, was their son. The family was traveling from Safi pur to Narsingdi by auto-rickshaw.
According to police, at around 8:30am on Friday, the auto-rickshaw heading toward Narsingdi was hit by a dump truck coming from the opposite direction. Two people died on the spot. Three others, who were seriously injured, were rescued and taken to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, where child Tamim died while undergoing treatment.
Police added that after initial treatment, the injured were transferred to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur.
Kaliganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Russell stated that efforts are underway to identify the remaining deceased individual.
