Microsoft is adding a built-in internet speed test to Windows. The feature will let users check their connection directly from the Taskbar. Right-clicking the network icon in the system tray will show a speed test option. The same button will also appear in the Wi-Fi quick settings menu, according to Windows Insider, Phantomofearth.
Clicking the button will open Bing to run the test. This means the tool is not fully built into Windows and may still depend on outside services.
Alongside this, Microsoft is making other small changes. The mobile devices page under Bluetooth settings is being redesigned to show all linked phones in one place. Privacy and security settings are also being updated with clearer headings and descriptions. A new “background AI tasks” page is included, though it is not working properly yet.
These updates are part of the latest Windows Insider test builds for developers and beta users. They are not guaranteed to be released to everyone but could appear in future updates.
Experts advise users not to rush into installing new builds, as test versions can cause issues.
