After Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Andolan, Khelafat Majlis also launched a three-day programme to press home their six-point demands, including legal backing for the July Charter.
The party’s Secretary General Dr Ahmad Abdul Kader made the disclosure at a press conference held at the party’s central office in Purana Paltan on Monday.
The programmes include protests in Dhaka on 18 September, in all metropolitan cities on 19 September, and in districts and upazilas across the country on 26 September.
Dr Ahmad Abdul Kader emphasised that, in addition to seeking legal support for the July Charter, the party’s other demands include electing members of the upper house of the National Parliament through the Proportional Representation (PR) system, bringing visible justice for the crimes committed by the ruling Awami fascism and its allies.
The party also seeks banning political activities and declaring all collaborators of Awami fascism ineligible for elections, creating a level playing field for all in elections with effective measures to ensure fair elections free from illegal arms, muscle power, and black money, and immediately cancelling the directive to appoint music teachers in primary schools and taking effective steps to appoint religious teachers.
Dr Kader warned that if the interim government does not take clear steps to provide legal backing for the July National Charter, a larger programme will be announced in the future.
Earlier in the day, Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Andolan Bangladesh also announced similar programmes for the same demands.
