Khulna police have recovered the body of journalist Wahid-uz-Zaman Bulu from the basement of pillar No. 2 of the Rupsha Bridge in Khulna on Sunday night.

The body was retrieved around 8:00pm following reports from locals. Witnesses claimed Bulu had jumped from the bridge, reports UNB.

Major Maruf, deputy commander of RAB-6, confirmed the victim’s identity.

Lobonchora Police Outpost in-charge SI Rahim said he rushed to the spot after receiving information from locals. As the body was floating on the river, local people informed the matter to river police.

Rupsha River Police outpost SI Bellah Hossain said they recovered the body around 8:00pm. At the time of recovery, Bulu was wearing blue gabardine pant and a sky-blue T-shirt. Injuries were visible on his right hand and face.

Teams from Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have begun probing the cause of death. Senior police officials also visited the site.

Bulu previously worked for the daily Ajker Kagoj and with the United News of Bangladesh (UNB).
