A young man named Abu Saeed (20) was killed by a stab to the throat on the iron bridge over the canal in Goidartek, under Darus Salam Police Station in the capital.
The incident occurred at around 5:30pm on Saturday.
The Acting Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Darus Salam Police Station, Rokibul Hossain, said that preliminary information suggests the murder was related to a woman. The suspected killer is a young man named Ashiq. Saeed was fond of Ashiq’s sister. Ashiq had previously warned Saeed over this issue.
On Saturday afternoon, Saeed went near Ashiq’s house. Upon seeing him, Ashiq became enraged and stabbed him in the throat.
As of 10:30pm on Saturday, the police had not been able to arrest anyone in connection with the incident. However, OC Rokibul stated that multiple teams are conducting raids to apprehend the accused.
According to police sources, Abu Saeed was killed by his close friend Ashiq. During an argument on the iron bridge over the canal, Ashiq stabbed Saeed in the throat, severing his windpipe. Bystanders quickly rescued him and took him to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead after examination.
The body is currently in the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
