Ozzy Osbourne’s cause of death has been confirmed two weeks after the Black Sabbath frontman died aged 76. According to The New York Times, his death certificate lists a heart attack as the cause, also noting coronary heart disease and Parkinson’s disease, which he was diagnosed with in 2003 but revealed publicly only in 2020.
The certificate was filed by his daughter Aimee Osbourne in London. An air ambulance was reported at his home in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, on July 22, the day he passed away.
Osbourne was laid to rest at his UK mansion in a private ceremony attended by Elton John, Metallica members and others. Earlier, his cortege travelled through Birmingham, attracting thousands of fans. The family paused at a fan memorial, where Sharon Osbourne was comforted by their children.
He performed his final live show in Birmingham weeks before his death, raising significant funds for charity. Bandmate Geezer Butler recalled Ozzy’s frailty during rehearsals and the concert, noting how he sat throughout and struggled to stand.
Guitarist Tony Iommi described the news as a shock and believes Ozzy held on to perform his last show as a farewell.
On August 4, Kelly Osbourne thanked fans for their support on Instagram, reflecting on the pain of grief and the comfort of shared love and memories.
