Facebook remains one of the most widely used social media platforms among celebrities in the country. Most have their page verified, so it becomes easier when deciding the authenticity of posts.
Popular 90’s actress Shabnoor has been active on social media for the past few years. She regularly uploads videos on Facebook and YouTube.
However, a fake, verified page of her name has been stirring up trouble for the once-famed actress, and she has decided to take legal steps regarding this.
Shabnoor said, “I have come to learn that there is a verified page using my name. However, that is not done by me. Whoever has done it needed to use my personal information, like my passport or National ID, to achieve it. I don’t know how they acquired it. This just goes to prove that they do not have honest intentions ;I am worried about any sort of fraudulent activity committed by the people involved because that will not only tarnish my name but may put me in an unwarranted situation for no fault of mine,’ she added.
She added that because of her popularity, there were many pages in her name even before she started using Facebook. Since she was not a frequent user, she was not bothered.
Shabnoor has been active for the last five years and said most of the people she interacted with through that knew it was her original personal profile. But considering the recent fake verified page fiasco, she has completed the process for it and now has one to her name.
The actress said that she is preparing to file a General Diary and will also inform the police and cybersecurity unit of the incident.
The actress further added, “I have confirmed that someone from Bangladesh runs this page. Multiple people are involved in this. I will request the law enforcement agencies to bring forward the identity of such fraudsters.”
The page that she is claiming is fake has a total of more than 659,000 followers.
It is worth mentioning that the verified page of another popular actress of the country, Mahiya Mahi, has also been in the possession of fraudsters for a long time.
