Eight more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8am on Saturday, taking the combined number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in the country this year to 1,122.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified all eight latest deaths as suspected measles fatalities.
With the latest deaths, the number of suspected measles-related fatalities has risen to 1,020, while confirmed deaths from measles remain at 102.
The country recorded 1,109 new suspected measles cases during the same 24-hour period, taking the cumulative number of suspected cases to 195,197, according to DGHS data.
Meanwhile, 43 additional laboratory-confirmed measles cases were reported, raising the total number of confirmed infections to 21,666.
Since March 15, a total of 173,024 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country, the data showed.
Of them, 167,756 patients have recovered, according to the DGHS.
