Rapper Macklemore has announced that all three dates of his ‘Free Palestine’ tour in Dublin, Paris and London have sold out shortly after tickets went on sale.
Sharing the news on Instagram on 30 September, Macklemore said he was overwhelmed by the response.
He said the concerts were organised quickly to show solidarity with Palestinians and raise funds for organisations supporting them. The line-up for the shows will be announced soon.
The tour announcement came days after Macklemore was dropped from Ed Sheeran’s US ‘Loop Tour’ following his pro-Palestinian remarks during performances at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium earlier in September.
Tour promoter Messina Touring Group announced on 14 September that Macklemore would no longer appear as an opening act, citing concerns from venues about hosting him.
Sheeran later clarified that the decision was made by the promoter, although he had spoken with venues and other parties in an effort to resolve the situation. Several other artists, including Finneas, Lukas Graham and Aaron Rowe, also withdrew from the tour.
