Several new films are set to hit cinemas during this year’s Durga Puja, but Dev and Subhashree Ganguly’s much-awaited Desu 7 has emerged as one of the most anticipated releases.
After a long wait, audiences are looking forward to seeing the popular pair together on the big screen again. The film’s promotional campaign has already begun, and their chemistry has become a talking point.
On Tuesday, 29 September, Dev and Subhashree travelled to Agartala in Tripura to promote the film.
A large crowd of fans gathered at the airport to welcome them. Later, the two actors attended a special promotional event and live programme at Agartala’s Children’s Park.
Subhashree won over the audience by speaking in Kokborok, a language widely spoken in Tripura and parts of Bangladesh’s hill regions. However, the biggest attraction of the event was the duo’s chemistry off screen.
Dev and Subhashree performed together to the film’s popular song ‘Tor Shudhu Tor’. During the performance, Dev kissed Subhashree on the forehead on stage. A video of the moment quickly spread across social media, prompting a range of reactions.
Some netizens praised their chemistry and recalled their earlier screen partnership, while others made comments about Subhashree’s husband, Raj Chakraborty.
The moment also brought renewed attention to Dev and Subhashree’s past relationship. At a recent salon opening in Kolkata, Dev said social media comments surrounding the two had made him cautious about even speaking normally with his former partner.
According to Dev, both actors are trying to maintain a normal equation, but comments from people around them can sometimes make things complicated. He had also said that the situation made him hesitant about promoting the film.
The pair returned to the spotlight in 2025 with Dhumketu, which brought them back together on screen. Dev later planned another film with Subhashree for the 2026 Durga Puja season after facing several complications over its release and production.
The film was announced last December. Interestingly, Subhashree agreed to act in the project before its story or title had been finalised. As the seventh film featuring Dev and Subhashree together, it was initially named Desu 7, a title that was later retained.
The film also stars Anirban Bhattacharya, Rajatabha Dutta, Aparajita Adhya, Priyanka Sarkar, Kanchan Mullick and Loknath Dey, among others.
The viral promotional moment has added another layer of interest to a film that was already generating considerable anticipation among audiences.
