Bangladesh’s garment exports to the UK rebounded in August, lifting shipments in the first two months of FY2026-27 to $915.63 million after a weak start to the fiscal year in July.
Exports in July and August were up 3.74 per cent from $882.62 million in the same two months a year earlier, according to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data cited by Bangladesh Apparel Voice.
Its Founder and CEO Mohiuddin Rubel said the improvement was driven almost entirely by August, when garment exports to the UK jumped 10.53 per cent year-on-year.
That reversed some of the weakness seen in July, when shipments fell 2.44 per cent.
The two-month export figure is already equivalent to 20.86 per cent of the $4.39 billion Bangladesh earned from garment shipments to the UK during the whole of FY2025-26.
Garment exports to the UK averaged $457.82 million a month in July and August. For perspective, last fiscal year’s full-year exports of $4.39 billion translate into an average of $365.71 million a month when divided evenly across 12 months.
The comparable year-on-year measure is the 3.74 per cent increase in July-August exports, with August’s 10.53 per cent rebound offsetting July’s 2.44 per cent decline.
