Chinese interlining manufacturer and supplier Webest Group has opened a manufacturing facility in Ashulia, Dhaka, bringing production of specialised garment interlining closer to Bangladesh’s export-oriented apparel factories as the textile company expands its global manufacturing footprint.
The facility, operated by Webest BD, was inaugurated recently and will produce and supply interlining and other specialised materials used by garment manufacturers and international brands, according to the company.
Webest said the Bangladesh operation is intended to shorten supply chains, speed up deliveries and provide local technical support to apparel manufacturers.
Webest Group Chairman Shen Rong, Managing Director Zhang Xiong and Director of Global Brand Management Jimmy Kwok attended the inauguration.
The investment places Webest directly in Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) manufacturing base rather than serving customers solely through overseas production and distribution.
Sustainability is also part of the company’s Bangladesh strategy. The Ashulia plant will supply recycled polyester interlining as manufacturers respond to demand from global fashion brands for more sustainable materials.
Webest is also introducing a 100 per cent polyester interlining designed to provide the texture and feel of natural cotton while retaining the performance characteristics required for garment production.
The factory’s product range includes woven and non-woven fusible interlining, circular knit or tricot products, polyester circular and warp-knit interlining and stretchable woven and non-woven materials.
It will also supply adhesive film products as well as canvas and interlining packages for suits and blazers.
“Our new facility brings advanced interlining solutions directly to the doorstep of Bangladesh’s manufacturing core,” the company officials said in recent statement on Saturday.
“This milestone reflects more than just physical expansion—it is a steadfast commitment to delivering faster service, consistent product quality, and next-generation production capabilities that bridge innovation with commercial opportunity.”
Webest specialises in the research, design, production and distribution of woven and non-woven interlining for the apparel industry.
The company said the Ashulia operation will serve local manufacturers, production teams and global sourcing companies seeking materials and technical support in Bangladesh, the company said.
