Legendary Nazrul Sangeet artiste Yasmin Mushtari and singer Sumi Sharmin recently served as judges at a special competition organised by Bangladesh Shishu Academy in Dhaka to mark Children’s Rights Day and World Children’s Week.
For Sumi Sharmin, sharing the judging panel with an artiste of Mushtari’s stature was a memorable experience. She said the opportunity to work alongside the veteran singer would play an important role in her own musical journey.
Yasmin Mushtari grew up in a culturally inclined family and has remained involved in music education, practice and performance since childhood. She established her distinctive identity through Bangladesh Television and various music competitions from an early age.
Recently, Mushtari also launched the ‘Digital Archive of Yasmin Mushtari’ as a gift for her well-wishers.
The online platform documents different aspects of her long musical career, including her biography, songs, audio and video recordings, awards, albums, photographs, published news reports, interviews, media activities, social media presence and information about various programmes and events.
The concept and development of the platform were handled by IT infrastructure development company Versdsoft Ltd.
Meanwhile, Sumi Sharmin has been receiving a positive response to her recent songs. Her track Pash Kete Jete Paro, written by Lutfor Hasan, features composition and musical arrangement by Shan Sayek.
She also recently released Roudrer Kolahol, for which she wrote the lyrics, while Shan Sayek composed and arranged the music.
Both songs have received encouraging responses from listeners.
