KM Firoz Shahriar, father of Ishayat Shahriar Apratim, could not hold back his tears and struggled to speak before his 13‑year‑old son’s namaz‑e‑janaza at Cumilla University (CoU) on Sunday morning.
“Apratim grew up with your affection and love. If he has ever hurt anyone, please forgive him,” his father said, repeatedly breaking down while speaking.
His emotional address left many of the mourners in tears.
Apratim, who was found dead inside the Lalmai hills under Sadar Dakkhin upazila on Saturday, was buried at the family graveyard following his second janaza at Gondamati Eidgah in Kotbari of the upazila, reports UNB.
His first janaza was held at the CoU campus around 10am.
Teachers, students, officials and employees of the university, along with local residents, thronged the campus to have a last glimpse of the boy and mourn his death.
Apratim, the only son of Firoz and Nahida Begum, an associate professor of the Department of Bangla at CoU, was a seventh‑grade student at Cumilla Border Guard Public School. He left home around 3:30pm on Friday, carrying his mother’s iPhone to take photographs with friends.
However, he did not return, prompting his family to search for him and his father to file a general diary with Sadar Dakkhin Police Station.
Police detained three people — Tuhin, Anas and Fahim — for questioning in connection with the death.
