Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag is swapping the cricket pitch for the reality-show arena as he takes charge as host of Rise and Fall Season 2. The first promo offers a glimpse of Sehwag in a new role, bringing his straight-talking style to a game built around power, money and strategy.
According to Indian Outlook, the promo draws a parallel between cricket and the show’s unpredictable gameplay. Sehwag will watch contestants navigate shifting alliances, rivalries and decisions that can change their position in the game. He said cricket taught him that “no match is won before the final ball”, adding that the reality format carries a similar uncertainty as contestants decide when to take risks and when to hold back.
The second season features 15 celebrity contestants divided into two groups — the Rulers and the Workers. The Rulers live in a penthouse, while the Workers stay in a basement. The divide creates a sharp contrast between privilege and power.
However, the positions can change as the game progresses. Strategy, alliances and decisions determine who rises and who falls. Money and influence remain central to the competition.
The show marks Sehwag’s streaming debut as a reality-show host. His experience of reading situations and opponents on the cricket field now comes into play in a format where contestants must anticipate each other’s moves.
The second season follows the show’s debut outing and retains its focus on shifting power. UK production company Studio Lambert created the format, while Banijay Asia produces the Indian version.
Rise and Fall Season 2 will stream for free on Prime Video and the MX Player Android app, which has been refreshed as MX Player by Prime Video. The new season will premiere soon.
