A man allegedly committed suicide after killing his two minor sons following a family dispute in Sharsha upazila of Jashore on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Kamal Hossain, 45, of Chatkapota Dakshinpara village in the upazila, and his sons-Sabir, 5, and Jabir, aged two and a half.
According to local police, Kamal had seven children from multiple marriages.
Recently, he divorced his first two wives. Following ongoing family feuds, his latest wife also left him about a week ago and went to her father’s house in Narail, leaving the two minor boys in Kamal’s custody.
On Tuesday afternoon, police recovered the bodies of the two children with nooses around their necks from inside the house. Kamal’s body was later found in the courtyard.
Upon receiving the information, a police team rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them to the Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsies.
Shaminul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sharsha Police Station, said it is primarily suspected that Kamal strangled his two sons to death before taking his own life over the family feud.
“However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the investigation and autopsy are completed,” the OC added.
