Two cocktail explosions rocked the vicinity of Ganosamhati Andolon office in Hatirpool, Dhaka on Monday evening at around 8pm. While no casualties were reported in the latest incident, it has heightened security concerns among political activists in the capital.

Following the blasts, members and leaders of Ganosamhati Andolon quickly gathered outside their office, expressing suspicions that the attack was deliberately orchestrated to intimidate their organisation.

New Market Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge AKM Mahfuzul Haq promptly arrived at the scene to initiate investigations. “We are thoroughly examining the perpetrators and their motives behind these explosions,” OC Haq stated, adding that law enforcement is working to identify and apprehend those responsible.

This incident marks the third such explosion in the Banglamotor-Hatirpool area within a week. On June 24, similar cocktail attacks targeted the central office of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Banglamotor, leaving four individuals injured.

Another explosion had occurred in the same neighborhood the previous evening, creating a pattern of violence that has alarmed local residents and political organisations alike.

The consecutive attacks have raised questions about the safety of political offices in central Dhaka, with activists calling for enhanced security measures.

Police authorities have assured intensified patrolling and surveillance in the affected areas to prevent further incidents.
