Veteran actress Saira Banu remembered her late husband and legendary actor Dilip Kumar with an emotional tribute on his fifth death anniversary.
According to NDTV report, she shared a series of photographs from their life together on social media and reflected on their bond, memories and the deep loss she continues to feel after his death.
Dilip Kumar died on 7 July 2021 at the age of 98. Remembering him on the anniversary, Saira described memories as a lasting connection that keeps loved ones close despite the passage of time.
In her heartfelt note, Saira said Dilip Kumar, whom she lovingly called “Sahib”, left her with a lifetime of treasured memories. She wrote that those memories remain her greatest gift and continue to give her strength.
Recalling the day of his death, Saira said Dilip Kumar’s passing created a deep void not only in her life but also among his family, friends, admirers and the film industry. She described him as the strongest support in her life and the person she relied on the most.
Saira also spoke about their relationship, saying their journey together went beyond simply sharing a life. She described their bond as one built on companionship, trust and mutual respect.
While the world remembers Dilip Kumar as one of Indian cinema’s greatest actors, Saira highlighted the personal side of the star. She said people close to him knew him as a compassionate human being, a generous philanthropist and a cherished friend.
Reflecting on her years with the actor, Saira said she now understands that she was not only witnessing history but also becoming part of his lasting legacy.
She added that five years after his death, her love for Dilip Kumar remains unchanged. Saira said true love and companionship do not fade with time or distance, and he continues to live through her memories every day.
Ending her tribute, Saira expressed gratitude for the opportunity to love and be loved by Dilip Kumar. She called their relationship one of the greatest blessings of her life.
