Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is guiding his daughter Suhana Khan as she prepares for her big-screen debut in the upcoming action thriller King, Bengali actor Kharaj Mukherjee has revealed.
According to Anandabazar .com, Shah Rukh will return to the big screen with King in December. The film marks his comeback to an action role after nearly three years. The actor last appeared in three films in 2023.
The film will introduce Suhana to the big screen. Sujoy Ghosh, known for Kahaani, is among the four writers working on the screenplay. Kharaj Mukherjee, who also stars in the film, recently completed a shooting schedule in Mumbai.
Sharing his experience, Kharaj praised Shah Rukh’s dedication and disciplined approach to work.
“It was an incredible experience. Shah Rukh Khan is a great person. He only focuses on his work. When he is on set, he does not discuss anything else. He does not even speak loudly, which allows everyone to work in complete silence,” Kharaj said.
He added that Shah Rukh’s shooting schedule started at 2pm and continued until 2am, which was convenient for him.
Kharaj also spoke about Shah Rukh’s efforts to help Suhana during her first film. He said the actor carefully guides his daughter and demonstrates scenes himself to help her understand the performance.
According to Kharaj, Shah Rukh showed Suhana how to perform even small details. He recalled a scene where Suhana had to lie down and said Shah Rukh personally demonstrated the correct posture and head position.
Kharaj said Shah Rukh’s role as a father was clearly visible, but the actor also remained focused on helping Suhana grow as a performer. He added that most of his scenes were with Suhana, while he also shared screen space with Shah Rukh.
The actor said receiving praise from Shah Rukh was a special moment for him.
After finishing the first half of the shooting, Kharaj returned to Kolkata. Later, Shah Rukh and Suhana travelled to Poland, and Kharaj joined the team again for the second phase of filming.
Recalling his last day on set, Kharaj said he asked Shah Rukh for an autograph because the actor was still in his character look and taking a photograph was not possible.
He said Shah Rukh immediately agreed, stepped forward and gave him an autograph, which he will keep as a memorable gift.
Kharaj also revealed that Sujoy Ghosh recommended him for the film and introduced his work to Shah Rukh. He said Shah Rukh told him that he had heard appreciation for his acting.
Kharaj thanked Shah Rukh and expressed his desire to work with him again. He also joked that working with Shah Rukh was a dream for many and that he might make others jealous. Shah Rukh responded with laughter and humility.
Kharaj did not share details about his character but said he had a wonderful experience working on King. Produced by Gauri Khan, the action thriller will hit theatres on 24 December.
