Through a commitment to consistent transparency and responsible stewardship, MASTUL Foundation continues to deliver meaningful humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities within Bangladesh and across international borders.
The MASTUL Foundation, a non-profit and non-political volunteer-driven organisation, is registered with NGO Affairs Bureau under the prime minister’s office, the Ministry of Social Welfare, and the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC).
Notably, the organisation holds a special SRO certification from the National Board of Revenue (NBR), which allows eligible donations and Zakat contributions to qualify for income tax rebates.
Global and local reach
The humanitarian reach of MASTUL Foundation extends to international crises. During ongoing emergencies in Gaza and Sudan, the organisation has directly delivered emergency food aid, meals, and life-saving medicines.
Domestically, with approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the MASTUL Foundation performs sensitive services, including the ritual washing and burial of unclaimed deceased persons.
Daily community support is provided through Mehmankhana (Community Kitchen) programme, which distributes free, nutritious meals to underprivileged individuals in areas such as Karwan Bazar in the capital.
Economic empowerment and Islamic finance
Under the supervision of an independent Shariah Board, the MASTUL Foundation utilises Zakat and Sadaqah funds to empower underprivileged families through sustainable livelihood programmes. By providing business capital, the organisation aims to transition Zakat recipients into future contributors.
To further institutionalise these efforts, the MASTUL Foundation operates Islamic Finance programmes approved by the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) under the Ministry of Finance.
These initiatives include providing the Qard Hasan (interest-free loans) to unemployed youth to foster entrepreneurship and economic independence.
In Baraikhali, Hazaribagh, the foundation currently operates a school, madrasa, orphanage, and elderly care centre. The construction is also underway for the 10-story Mastul Islamic Shelter Home Complex.
This modern facility is designed to house a mosque, madrasa, school, medical corner, and vocational training centre, providing a dignified environment for orphaned children and the elderly.
Commitment to transparency
MASTUL Foundation Founder Kazi Reaz Rahman emphasised that every initiative is dedicated to seeking the pleasure of Almighty Allah.
“Since our inception, we have maintained the transparency by publicly sharing our audited reports,” he said, adding that the proper management of Zakat is essential for equitable wealth distribution.
The foundation encourages the donors to directly observe the progress of the projects they support. All activities remain under the strict guidance of its independent Shariah Board to ensure the sanctity of the humanitarian work.
