Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of the BNP and Minister for Local Government, has called on the public to remain vigilant and alert to prevent any attempts to create instability in the country.

He said a certain group is trying to destabilise the nation and stressed that everyone must be cautious to ensure the situation remains stable.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a civic reception held at the Ruhia High School grounds in Thakurgaon on Wednesday afternoon.

Mirza Fakhrul noted that under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, the government is fulfilling promises made to the public, including the inauguration of new upazilas, appointment of vice-chancellors to public universities, approval of medical colleges, and initiatives to operationalise airports.

He added that development programmes such as the Family Card initiative and canal excavation are being implemented thanks to the support and votes of the people.

Addressing the youth, he urged them to stay away from drugs, develop their skills, and engage in social activism.

He also highlighted Bangladesh’s election to the Presidency of the 81st United Nations General Assembly as a major achievement and a mark of international recognition for the country.
