Administration seized a truck carrying around 20 tonnes of government rice during a late-night operation in Madan, Netrokona.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shaolin Nahar confirmed the matter on Thursday. The operation also involved Madan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Tariqul Islam and Investigating Officer Ashim Kumar, and other police members.
According to Shaolin, acting on a tip-off, the administration and police conducted an operation. They seized a truck containing a total of 666 sacks of rice, comprising both 30kg and 20kg bags. The total quantity of seized rice is around 20 tonnes.
Police detained the truck driver Shamim, 28, along with Shahin Mia and Mahmudul Alam. The rice-laden truck was taken into custody of the administration.
Shaolin said legal action will be taken against those involved following an investigation after verifying the documents related to the transport and storage of rice.
