The driver involved in the tragic road accident that killed four people in Natore has been arrested by police from the Jhalmalia Highway Police Station.
The driver, Mamunur Rashid, 40, was detained on Tuesday night from the Chakpara area under Shah Makhdum Police Station in Rajshahi city.
He will be handed over to the court on Wednesday, June 25.
Mamunur Rashid is a resident of Bhangra village in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi district and the son of Ashraf Ali.
According to Mahabur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Jhalmalia Highway Police Station, the fatal collision occurred on June 20 in the Bonbelghoria area of Natore town, where a passenger bus collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. The crash resulted in the deaths of four people, including the auto-rickshaw driver.
Following the incident, the wife of the deceased rickshaw driver filed a case under the Road Transport Act. Based on the case, police used digital tracking methods to locate and arrest Mamunur Rashid.
