Seven more people have died of measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In a press release issued by the DGHS control room on Friday, it was reported that of the latest fatalities, one was a confirmed measles case, while the remaining six died with measles-like symptoms.
With these latest figures, the total number of confirmed measles deaths since 15 March has risen to 58.
During the same period, the number of deaths from suspected measles has reached 285.
The DGHS further revealed that 1,212 suspected cases were identified in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected measles cases between 15 March and 8 May to 46,710. Out of these, 282 cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of confirmed cases to 6,490.
Regarding hospitalisations, the report stated that 32,862 people have been admitted to hospitals with suspected measles since 15 March. Of them, 29,152 patients have been discharged after recovery.
