Colombian pop superstar Shakira has offered the world its first taste of the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song, releasing a 67-second teaser video filmed at Brazil’s iconic Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro and announcing that the full track, titled Dai Dai, will be released on 14 May.
The clip was shared on Shakira’s Instagram account and simultaneously posted by the official FIFA World Cup account, ending with the message: “We’re ready.”
Filmed on the Maracana pitch, the video sees Shakira holding the Trionda, the official match ball of the 2026 World Cup, while performing excerpts of the song in English alongside dancers dressed in the colours of various competing nations, including the United States and Colombia. The setting carries its own significance: Shakira had performed a free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro just days earlier, drawing a crowd of two million people.
The song was produced in collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy, a pairing that promises to blend Shakira’s global pop sensibility with one of the most commercially dominant sounds in contemporary music.
For Shakira, the project represents a continuation of one of the most enduring relationships between a musician and football’s biggest stage. She created Waka Waka for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, one of the most recognisable sporting anthems ever recorded, and performed at both the 2006 final in Germany and the 2014 final in Brazil. Dai Dai will be her fourth major World Cup involvement.
The 2026 tournament will be held across the United States, Canada and Mexico, making it the first World Cup to span three host nations
