Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 534 people and filed 69 cases during regular anti-crime operations across the capital in the past 24 hours.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by DMP on Friday, 4 September.
According to the statement, 32 people were arrested in the Ramna division, 32 in Lalbagh, 41 in Wari, 64 in Motijheel, 83 in Tejgaon, 163 in Mirpur, 51 in Gulshan and 60 in Uttara.
The Detective Branch (DB) arrested seven people, while one person was detained in an operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit.
During the operations, police recovered 5,383 yaba tablets, 46.9 kilogrammes of cannabis, a knife, an anti-cutter, five mobile phones, two handcuffs, a motorcycle, a private car, a microbus and Tk 200 in cash.
DMP said the arrests were made during separate operations conducted in different police station areas of the capital, where the recovered drugs and other items were seized.
Legal action against the arrested individuals is underway, the police said.
