Legendary singer Sabina Yasmin celebrates her 72nd birthday today, 4 September.
Born in 1954, she has spent more than five decades shaping Bengali music with a voice that continues to connect with listeners across generations.
Her career as a playback singer began in 1967 with the song “Madhur Jochona Dipali” from the film Agun Niye Khela.
That early opportunity marked the start of a remarkable journey in which her voice became closely associated with Bengali cinema.
Sabina grew up in a family surrounded by music and received her initial training from her relatives.
Years of discipline and practice helped her develop a distinctive vocal style, allowing her to move comfortably between romance, sorrow, joy and other emotional expressions.
