Three people, including the driver and helper of a covered van, were killed after a bus of Unique Paribahan rammed into the back of the stationary vehicle in Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni on Friday morning.
Another person was injured in the accident, which took place around 7:30am in front of Daulatpur Government Primary School on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
Second Officer of Fajilpur Highway Police Station SI Abu Noman said a covered van travelling towards Chattogram had broken down and was parked on the highway.
He said efforts were underway to tow the covered van by attaching it to a long vehicle when a speeding Unique Paribahan bus coming from behind hit the van.
The covered van driver and helper, along with the bus driver, died on the spot. Their identities could not be confirmed immediately.
The injured person was rescued and admitted to Feni 250-bed General Hospital.
Fajilpur Highway Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital morgue. Three vehicles involved in the accident have been seized.
