Brahmanbaria-2 lawmaker Rumeen Farhana has said the hospital in her constituency’s Sarail upazila is “like a patient itself.”
She said the Sarail Upazila Health Complex serving nearly 3,50,000 people across nine unions has only 50 beds. “And the hospital itself is like a patient,” she remarked.
Rumeen was speaking in the parliament on Thursday morning.
She said that the facility suffers from shortages of doctors, staff, medicines, and modern equipment.
A Tk10 crore project had been taken up to construct a new building, but the contractor fled after 5 August 2024. So, the services are still being provided from the old two-storey building, she added.
She further informed the Jatiya Sangsad that 64 posts remain vacant at the hospital.
