Veteran actor, director and producer Masud Parvez Sohel Rana has returned to Dhaka after receiving medical treatment in Singapore.
The actor travelled to Singapore on April 5 for treatment and came back on Tuesday, April 14. He later confirmed his return in a social media post, saying he had come back “fairly healthy” and expressed gratitude to those who had prayed for his recovery.
Sohel Rana has been dealing with health issues for several years and regularly seeks medical care both in Bangladesh and abroad.
Born Masud Parvez, he began his film career as a producer, with the 1972 Liberation War film ‘Ora Egaro Jon’ directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam. He later made his on-screen debut in ‘Masud Rana’ (1973), adopting the screen name Sohel Rana, which went on to define his career.
He rose to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s as one of the leading figures of Bangladeshi cinema.
