Bangladesh’s gold market saw a steep price cut on Thursday, with new rates taking effect from 10am.
The price of 22-carat gold has been cut by Tk4,432 per bhori, bringing it down to Tk247,977.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new gold price in a notice issued in the morning. It said the new rates were set considering the overall situation after a drop in the local market price of pure gold.
According to the revised rates, per bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold now costs Tk247,977. The price of 21-carat gold is Tk236,721 per bhori, 18-carat gold Tk202,895, and traditional method gold Tk165,279.
BAJUS last adjusted prices on 8 April, when the rate of 22-carat gold was raised by Tk6,590 to Tk252,409 per bhori. At that time, 21-carat gold was Tk240,920, 18-carat gold Tk206,511, and traditional gold Tk168,195 per bhori. Those rates also took effect from 10am that day.
So far this year, gold prices in Bangladesh have been adjusted 54 times—raised on 31 occasions and reduced on 23. In 2025, prices were adjusted a total of 93 times.
