The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has launched an investigation into a recent incident at a shop in the Moghbazar Vishal Center, while the Officer-in-Charge of Hatirjheel Police Station has been withdrawn from duty.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the move in a press release on Wednesday.

The statement said that on 20 March, an unexpected situation unfolded at a showroom linked to the market committee over a promotional offer on panjabis.

To examine the role of any police personnel in the incident, the DMP has formed a dedicated inquiry committee. Meanwhile, the acting OC of Hatirjheel Police Station has been attached to DMP Headquarters, and an Assistant Sub-Inspector involved has been reassigned to Rajarbagh Police Lines.

Further action will be determined based on the recommendations of the investigation committee, the DMP stated.
