Bangladeshi-origin footballer Cavan Sullivan made Major League Soccer history as Philadelphia Union claimed a 2-0 win over CF Montreal on Sunday.
The 16-year-old scored for the third match in a row as Philadelphia extended their unbeaten run to eight games.
Sullivan also became the first teenager in MLS history to record a goal contribution in five straight matches.
Neither side could find a breakthrough in the first half. Danley Jean Jacques finally opened the scoring for Philadelphia in the 57th minute.
Montreal had a big chance to level the match 11 minutes later. Prince Owusu stepped up for a penalty, but Union goalkeeper Andre Blake made the save to protect the lead.
Sullivan then sealed the victory in the 75th minute. The teenager scored an unassisted goal to make it 2-0. It was his fourth MLS goal of the season.
Blake finished with two saves and secured his fourth clean sheet of the campaign. It was also the 24th clean sheet of his Union career.
At the other end, Montreal goalkeeper Sebastian Breza made six saves.
The victory was Philadelphia’s seventh win of the season, while Montreal suffered their 12th defeat.
Philadelphia will next host Cincinnati on Thursday, while Montreal will welcome Charlotte on the same day.
