Leader of the Opposition and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday exchanged Eid-ul-Fitr greetings with diplomats stationed in Dhaka at his official residence on Minto Road.

The reception, held from 11am to around 1pm, brought together envoys from a wide range of countries as well as representatives of international organisations. The interaction took place in a cordial atmosphere, with informal exchanges between the opposition leader and the diplomats.

Diplomatic representatives from countries including the United States, United Kingdom, European Union member states, China, Turkey, Germany, Japan, India, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia and several others attended the event. Officials from international organizations such as UNDP, UNESCO and UNICEF were also present.

Traditional Bangladeshi dishes were served to the guests following the greetings exchange.

Later in the day, Shafiqur Rahman met with members of civil society, leaders of different political parties and the general public, continuing the Eid greetings programme.
