Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman spent a busy Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, participating in a series of official, diplomatic, and public engagements from morning to night.
Starting his day from his Gulshan residence, the prime minister attended the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah, joining President Mohammed Shahabuddin for the prayers.
The event marked a historic occasion, as it was the first time in 36 years that both the President and Prime Minister offered Eid prayers together.

The congregation also hosted the chief justice, cabinet members, and around 330 members of the diplomatic corps.
Following the prayers, Tarique Rahman met with former Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, diplomats, political leaders, and senior journalists at the Jamuna State Guest House.

Ambassadors from countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, Germany, India, and representatives from UN agencies such as UNDP, UNESCO, and UNICEF exchanged Eid greetings with him. He was accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman, daughter Zaima Rahman, and Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasised unity across political divides, stating that building the Bangladesh that citizens aspire to requires cooperation from all sectors.
He also paid tribute to the martyrs of 1971 and 2024, calling for collective effort in nation-building.

Later in the afternoon, he visited the graves of his father, former President Ziaur Rahman, and mother, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, offering prayers along with family members.
BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior party officials attended the ceremony.

Throughout the day, the prime minister also maintained contact with party members, government officials, and citizens at home and abroad, exchanging Eid greetings and well-wishes, making it a fully engaged and historic celebration.
