For more than two decades, the voice of popular Indian-Bengali singer Shreya Ghoshal has flowed through countless films, concerts and playlists, shaping the soundscape of modern Indian playback music. Born on March 12, 1984, in Berhampore (Baharampur) in India’s West Bengal, Ghoshal displayed a passion for music from an early age. She began formal training in classical music during childhood and started performing publicly while still in school; and her professional career began at just 14, when she participated in and later won the popular music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
That victory proved to be a turning point. Acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali noticed her extraordinary vocal talent and invited her to sing in his 2002 film Devdas. On the personal front, Ghoshal married her childhood friend Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya on February 5, 2015, after a relationship that lasted nearly a decade. The couple welcomed their son, Devyaan, in 2021.
