Police recovered the hanging body of a 29-year-old nurse from a residence in the Hosni Dalan area of Old Dhaka on Thursday night.
The deceased, identified as Nahida Akter Boby, was found alongside a suicide note demanding justice for alleged mistreatment by her husband and in-laws.
Chawkbazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter.
She was a staff member at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Police sent the body to the DMCH morgue for a post-mortem examination.
OC Abdullah stated that Bobby was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf tied around her neck. According to neighbours, a quarrel occurred between the husband and wife during iftar on Thursday.
Following the dispute, the husband left the house. Upon his return later, he found the door locked from the inside. After breaking into the room, he discovered his wife hanging.
OC further said Bobby had left a note before her death. The note reportedly read, “Husband Elias and his family members must be brought to justice.”
Farhad Hossain, Bobby’s cousin, said their family home is located in the Railway Colony of Sirajganj Sadar Upazila. He stated that they were notified of Bobby’s death by the police.
