A travel ban has been imposed on Mahmud Hasan, former deputy managing director (DMD) of Eastern Insurance Company Limited, and Jannatun Nesa Zakiah, a senior executive vice president of the company.
On Wednesday, Judge Md Sabbir Faiz of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court passed the order in response to two separate applications filed by the ACC.
The applications, submitted by ACC Assistant Director Md Ismail, stated that investigations are ongoing against them regarding allegations of acquiring assets beyond known sources of income and failing to submit wealth statements to the ACC.
The applications further mentioned that there is credible information suggesting they may attempt to leave the country, which could disrupt the ongoing investigation. The applications stated that imposing a travel ban against them is necessary in the interest of a fair investigation.
