The government has transferred 10 officials of the rank of superintendent of police (SP) in a strategic administrative reshuffle. Under this order, new SPs have been appointed to the districts of Bogura, Sylhet, Barishal, Jamalpur, Mymensingh, and Khagrachhari.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued the transfer order on Wednesday in a notification signed by Police-1 branch Deputy Secretary Tousif Ahmed.
According to the notification, Md Shahadat Hossain, the SP of Bogura, has been moved to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn). Mirza Sayem Mahmud, the SP of Khagrachhari, has been appointed as the new SP of Bogura.
Consequently, Md Mostaque Sarker, a deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), will take over as the SP of Khagrachhari.
In other key changes, Md Mizanur Rahman, the SP of Mymensingh, has been transferred to the Police Training Centre (PTC) in Noakhali. Taking his place is Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, previously a deputy commissioner of the DMP, who has been appointed as the SP of Mymensingh.
The reshuffle also affected Sylhet, where SP Kazi Akhter Ul Alam has been transferred to the APBn. He will be succeeded by Dr Chowdhury Md Jaber Sadek, the former SP of Jamalpur, who is now the SP of Sylhet.
To fill the vacancy in Jamalpur, Farhana Yasmin, a deputy commissioner of DMP, has been appointed as the SP of Jamalpur.
Farzana Islam, the SP of Barishal, has been transferred to the Naval Police. AZM Mostafizur Rahman, who was serving at Police Headquarters, has been appointed as the new SP of Barishal.
